Salut Our Vets Annual Run
Join the movement to help veterans get back on track!
With more than 600,000 veterans in Arizona, there is a growing need to help those in various stages of recovery from brain injury, PTSD, trauma, or suicidal ideation. Founded in Tucson in 1983, the Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona has successfully answered the call to action by empowering veterans, their families, and caregivers with an array of support services, education, and advocacy — all at no cost to veterans.
Participating in the 2023 Salute Our Vets 10K/5K/1-Mile Fun Run means you can be a part of this statewide movement — offering hope and assistance to veterans and their families.

The Council supports and works with state contractors to provide training and education to the community. Here is a list of a few opportunities available to the public. These events/courses are being hosted by Empowerment Research, LLC, and funded through the Arizona Governor’s Council on Spinal and Head Injuries.

Local Community Partners
The Governor’s Council teams up with local organizations and partners to help raise awareness and educate the public on brain injury, neuro-impaiment and spinal cord injury.

BRAIN INJURY ALLIANCE OF ARIZONA
Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona hosts virtual and in-person events every month to help support survivors, family members, and professionals! Those include events include social, educational and support groups. They also provide resource facilitation to survivors, family members, and professionals.

ARIZONA SPINAL CORD INJURY ASSOCIATION
Arizona Spinal Cord Injury Association (AzSCIA) hosts in person and virtual events and support groups every month to consumers, family, and friends. AzSCIA also has transportation services and a donation closet if consumers are in need. Check out their website for more information and how to register.

Rehabilitation
Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors work with individuals with disabilities to assist them in attaining employment and becoming or remaining economically self-sufficient.

The Department’s broad mission encompasses behavioral health, disease prevention and control, health promotion, community public health, environmental health, maternal and child health, and emergency preparedness.
